Thanksgiving is almost upon us and although many of us can't be with our families to celebrate (for fear of catching and bringing covid to our loved ones) we can still have time to reflect and give thanks! I decided to cancel my Thanksgiving flight to Florida from California when we hit 150,000 cases of covid per day just a couple of weeks ago. Now we're up to like 250,000 a day-or some crazy number. That's just too dangerous for me (immuno-compromised) and also dangerous for my family if I bring it to them.
So, Thanksgiving will be on Zoom this year! My husband, granddaughter & her BFF and I will be synchronizing our dinner with my Mom, Sis and her kids so we can see each other but more importantly, toast to my Dad who passed away just a few months ago from cancer. Tough to not be there with my family for our first holiday without Dad, but our new reality is that we just can't.
We will also be giving thanks and reflecting on how this year has been one heck of a roller coaster! Everyone has crap going on in their lives-and 2020 is no joke, it's been such a terrible, horrifying year with so many people who've lost loved ones to covid, political unrest, unemployment, etc. But we have to see what was good this year and give thanks for even the smallest things. Find those nuggets of happiness and focus on those vs. all the negativity that's happened this year.
My hope is that you have many wonderful things to reflect on with your family or friends in a safe, and healthy way (wear masks, keep 6 ft apart, eat outside if you can) and never give up!
